At this time some twenty years ago (haha), my mother was rushed to the hospital because she freaked out that the baby in her tummy has stopped moving.
I was born sleeping. Ta-dah.
On a full moon.
I am making my life sound interesting. Let's try.
Xaris likes to go by The Xaris, if anyone asks. Spawned by accounting guru Asser Tamayo and grammar nazi Cynthia Paler Tamayo, the child grew up to be a grammar whore who had a love-hate relationship with numbers.
The Xaris was born on August 1, 1985 under a full moon (but no one noticed because she was born on midday). Legend has it that the baby inside Cynthia’s tummy stopped moving altogether thus the mad hospital dash to deliver the unmoving fetus. Apparently, before boredom presented itself to the baby, she already discovered what it was. The moon-child came out of the womb sleeping.
Moons and stars fascinated The Xaris growing up. The Xaris believes that she is of the star people, which her non-showbiz manufacturers never denied. To this day, The Xaris swears by the laws of stars thus her crazy antics.
The Xaris has three siblings. And a weirder bunch nobody has ever seen.
More than life, The Xaris loves her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Despite her allegiance to the Cross, The Xaris is still in the process of grace. Sometimes her evil inclinations get the best of her, but that is why she hangs on tightly to the grace of the Lord. Apart from it, she is nothing. Xaris after all means grace.
Sometimes, The Xaris goes by the name Xai. When she is Xai, she is as sweet and charming as an… erm, sweet and charming thing. Oftentimes, she is just plain Xaris, the evil manipulative twin.
Oh. Someday she will fall in love. And this biography would sound even better. Rararara.

Tita Cory couldn't have picked a better day to die. Only fabulous people mark lives on August 1.

Dear God,
I know that your plans are way better and your thoughts higher. When you call people home, it is because you want them to meet you face to face. What a privilege for your children whom you call your own.
Earthlings say that the month of August is a ghost month. Having been born on the first day of this month, I say pfft, whatever. Thank you for making me, me. Thank you for continuously working in my life.
Thank you, Jesus, for loving me. :)

I was supposed to have been back from Baguio today to audition for the MYX VJ hunt. Ambisyosa talaga ako. LOL. Instead, I am still in my pajamas, watching 'Labs Kita, Okay Ka Lang' on Cinemaone, never having left home.
I had plans for August and September. One, to live in Baguio and work as GT. Two, try out for Myx on all Saturdays of August. Three, paint. Four, get a *tattoo*. Five, overhaul my wardrobe equals shopping.
But because God is infinitely wise and kind, He thwarted my plans. :) He instead gave me a new job in GMA-7 as researcher for Mel and Joey and showed me my soon-to-be-new-puppy poodle Tiger. :D *cartwheels*
I will blog about my first week in my new job when I get down from my cloud/bubble. I am still on bum mode and everything is new. May God grant me peace on this new adventure He gave me. :) Here's to twenny four! :)

my mother is a superhero
one, because she gave birth to four weird children normal section.
second, because she raised said children while working as a counselor and a grammar nazi.
and because she is the ultimate grammar nazi (for which my sister and I thank her).
also because she learned to cook just for us.
and then because she always took us to enroll even until day one in college.
and hers is the name we cry in the middle of a burning fever as a baby and as an adult (in my case).
mostly because even if i can tell she's tired, she always comes to our rescue.

i do not understand most of the things she does. why she wakes up early to prepare breakfast for grown-ups. why she stays up late until we got home. why she'd go see me in baguio within a 24-hour clock (aka balikan). why she married my dad. LOL.
my mother rocks beyond reason. i praise God for her.

thoughts on (com)mute
All the mothers (that includes you Tita Ninang Vi) in our church are strong women. They have strong personalities, brilliant minds and a whola lotta touch of TLC. That's the kind of fortitude I wish to emulate (IF I grow up).
They're the kind of women who really 'don't need a man' to be complete but so graciously submit to their husbands. Very godly wives, I should say.
Sure, they have issues with their daughters (and sons) but they still remain worthy of praise. At the end of the day, through their weaknesses and sometimes unbearable 'motherness,' they're all good.
I guess Tito Bob trained them well and they in turn turned out to be good disciplers. And I really pray that our SATC generation will look up to these women because I do think they're who we need to be. Smart, beautiful, and godly.

I caught A Very Special Love on Sunday, last full show at the galleria. That was after I watched The Dark Knight *tulo laway ang GALENG ni Joker* the same day, which was so amazing and quotable. I love watching in cinemas alone but since Baguio, I never really got to watch Pinoy murvies by myself because Eduardo was my default tagalog movie date. For everything else, there were Arriane, Pie and Marose.
Back to le John Lloyd flick. Every time I feel really sad, most likely because I ran out of 'kilig factor,' Lloydi is a sure antidote to xaidrama-tis. I swear. I must have seen all his movies (and that's a surprise because?) and every time his face appears on screen, I melt like ice cream in the Sahara. He's A- you're adorable! One time, I met him at CCF (this is my favorite john lloyd story) and he borrowed the empty seat next to mine. I didn't know it was him, so I just said, 'sure go ahead' without even looking. When he said thanks, I looked up and saw the prettiest brown eyes my nineteen years have ever seen.
If we were a movie (hey, that's a Miley song), we'd be together now.
(this is better said in Tagalog) Habang tumatagal akong single, lalong tumataas standards ko kakapanood ng mga pelikula ni John Lloyd.
Alas, it's too late. Harhar.

In two days, I'm a free girl! I took a one-month leave from work because I need to recover from too much xaidrama-tis. My health is failing (yey 25!), so's my spirtual cadence along with what's left of my emotional well-being. Aah, the wedding industry does that to a person. Hahaha. Kidding.
I'm grateful for the break. I want to plan it but I want to be spontaneous as well. Hello bummery, here I come. :)

Enchanted

| Rating: | ★★★★★ |
| Category: | Movies |
| Genre: | Kids & Family |
everything about the film screams disney, disney, disney and i'm all for that. it has the complete fairytale, no-fail-plot package [sound of music, cinderella, snow white] complete with a smashing musical score [it's a disney princess dream kind!], funny quotable lines, amazing costumes, props and set design and a redemptive ending.
like any trite fairytale there were trolls, dragons, power-hungry monarchs, evil plots, poisoned apples, woodland creatures, dashing sword fights [magic spells, a prince in disguise! haha], rides into the sunset, prince charming and true love's kiss. all these are set against a city life where snatchers and manic drivers abound.
a fairytale character, giselle [amy adams] finds herself banished into the unknown, alone, afraid and hoping for "a little kindness" or a place to stay the night. fortunately circumstances brought her along the paths of a super dashing lawyer, robert [patrick dempsey] who is so set on being boring. haha.
boy and girl meet. boy is practical and realistic. and girl, is well, she's a fairytale, go figure.
i lurve the plot description: "can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?" [hmm, i'll make a post about that some other time.]
five props to enchanted because...
* it's disney. [personal bias]
* it's musical.
* it's funny.
* i want to marry patrick dempsey.
seriously now, enchanted is a pretty good reminder that no matter how much of a good head we have, it's okay to throw in whim and a bit of magic. and at some point, a magical view of romance can survive in the real world as long as the characters involved know how to meet in the middle.
it's the kid in me talking but for all it's worth, i know remembering this movie will never fail to make me smile.

segue
sometimes i wish i have a love story to tell. like her. can't believe her luck.
twenny plus years of i-saw-my-crush-today doesn't cut anything; it's so juvenile and ridiculous. most kids my age are probably set on real wedding details or night outs with their significant others or taking care of babies. hah. like i would really know. the doldrum that is my life couldn't even start understanding why two people end up together.
and then i wonder: have i really ever been, truly, honest to goodness in love, in love?
far from me to be bitter and cynical but frankly, i am not liking the pace. that moment of truth, that long-awaited spark seems to take longer than normal to happen. sure, i have kilig moments, but they don't count. i mean, really now, a crush life at twenny? i must be a retard for missing out on all the fun of having a real SO. i am not looking forward to the heart aches, thankyouverymuch, but for that one butterfly-in-stomach feeling, i suppose i wouldn't mind. come on! don't you think i'm old enough to handle that?
times like this, i wish i were phlegmatic and not sanguine. phlegmatic girls seem to attract all the boys/men because of their serene demeanor while sanguine girls come off too strong or too intimidating or too loud and obnoxious. but oh, in all fairness, we're so much funnnn.
they say true love waits. if i heard it once, i have heard it a hundred times. and don't tell me he's just out there, wait patiently, your time will come, blah blah blah. while the world is spinning happily on that time i'm stuck to, let's say, the pre-historic. it's gonna take me eons and eons plus for that kind of lovin' to happen in my lifetime.
my story will have to wait. fine. don't hang on for that. let me, in the moment, just entertain you with story-telling. because that's all i have now. it won't start with once upon a time. come on, that's too sappy, donchu think?

why hello
today for lunch, i ate one piece of oreo cookie. oreo is bawal according to my support group contract so i might have to pay P250 any time soon. patay.
i am still listing ways on how to become sikat in no time [sikat sounds way better than popular, doncha think?]. BUT i figured i'm too lazy to even make a list. hello. kamusta naman. i am not going anywhere if i keep up this tamad mode. no, no cannot be.
i am scheduled to lead the p&w tomorrow and the thought sends shivers all over me. not the kilig sort but the scared-as-crazy kind coming from i dont know where. and being the psycho psychosomatic i am, i THINK i am losing my voice.
eating that oreo did not help one bit.
