thoughts on (com)mute

All the mothers (that includes you Tita Ninang Vi) in our church are strong women. They have strong personalities, brilliant minds and a whola lotta touch of TLC. That's the kind of fortitude I wish to emulate (IF I grow up).

They're the kind of women who really 'don't need a man' to be complete but so graciously submit to their husbands. Very godly wives, I should say.

Sure, they have issues with their daughters (and sons) but they still remain worthy of praise. At the end of the day, through their weaknesses and sometimes unbearable 'motherness,' they're all good.

I guess Tito Bob trained them well and they in turn turned out to be good disciplers. And I really pray that our SATC generation will look up to these women because I do think they're who we need to be. Smart, beautiful, and godly.

I caught A Very Special Love on Sunday, last full show at the galleria. That was after I watched The Dark Knight *tulo laway ang GALENG ni Joker* the same day, which was so amazing and quotable. I love watching in cinemas alone but since Baguio, I never really got to watch Pinoy murvies by myself because Eduardo was my default tagalog movie date. For everything else, there were Arriane, Pie and Marose.

Back to le John Lloyd flick. Every time I feel really sad, most likely because I ran out of 'kilig factor,' Lloydi is a sure antidote to xaidrama-tis. I swear. I must have seen all his movies (and that's a surprise because?) and every time his face appears on screen, I melt like ice cream in the Sahara. He's A- you're adorable! One time, I met him at CCF (this is my favorite john lloyd story) and he borrowed the empty seat next to mine. I didn't know it was him, so I just said, 'sure go ahead' without even looking. When he said thanks, I looked up and saw the prettiest brown eyes my nineteen years have ever seen.

If we were a movie (hey, that's a Miley song), we'd be together now.

(this is better said in Tagalog) Habang tumatagal akong single, lalong tumataas standards ko kakapanood ng mga pelikula ni John Lloyd.

Alas, it's too late. Harhar.

In two days, I'm a free girl! I took a one-month leave from work because I need to recover from too much xaidrama-tis. My health is failing (yey 25!), so's my spirtual cadence along with what's left of my emotional well-being. Aah, the wedding industry does that to a person. Hahaha. Kidding.

I'm grateful for the break. I want to plan it but I want to be spontaneous as well. Hello bummery, here I come. :)

dedlayn

We made a movie in one of my broadcast subject [yez, i took broadcasting] in 2005. My best friends [who happened to be my classmates] and I teamed up to make this short film. It was our first attempt to create something in honor of the one thing we loved together-movies. Needless to say, the events that transpired between concept-making to film-showing has made everyone appreciate the things movie makers do.

Right. When I've released something- creative juices, words or thoughts, I rarely go back to it.

I watched dedlayn minutes ago and I laughed my head off even when it was supposed to be drama. Every detail of that project was recalled in my oxygen-deprived brain and I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic. Sure, I knew the faults of the production and the outcome, but I must say I'm proud of the project.

Riiight.

Charos.

From making the short film dedlayn, I learned that...
1. ayoko pala talagang magsimula sa pagpi-PA.
2. I work best in executive functions [pang-events at hindi pang-field ang beauty ko].
3. true friends are those who stick by you even when you've become incredible hulk and beech them around.
4. i have anger issues.
7. video cameras, shooting techniques and the weather can only take you so far. Heart is more important.
10. all you really need to succeed in endeavors is a God bigger than all your troubles who gives you awesomely wonderful friends who add meaning to life.
11. having a camera recording your movements is well, unsettling. but fun.

Eh, yan na lang muna. Matagal ko nang pinakawalan ang pangarap na ma-redeem ang film-making inclinations ko, or what's left of it. Chos. :)

Enchanted

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Kids & Family
the whole time i was watching the movie, all i could say was, "awww."

everything about the film screams disney, disney, disney and i'm all for that. it has the complete fairytale, no-fail-plot package [sound of music, cinderella, snow white] complete with a smashing musical score [it's a disney princess dream kind!], funny quotable lines, amazing costumes, props and set design and a redemptive ending.

like any trite fairytale there were trolls, dragons, power-hungry monarchs, evil plots, poisoned apples, woodland creatures, dashing sword fights [magic spells, a prince in disguise! haha], rides into the sunset, prince charming and true love's kiss. all these are set against a city life where snatchers and manic drivers abound.

a fairytale character, giselle [amy adams] finds herself banished into the unknown, alone, afraid and hoping for "a little kindness" or a place to stay the night. fortunately circumstances brought her along the paths of a super dashing lawyer, robert [patrick dempsey] who is so set on being boring. haha.

boy and girl meet. boy is practical and realistic. and girl, is well, she's a fairytale, go figure.

i lurve the plot description: "can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?" [hmm, i'll make a post about that some other time.]

five props to enchanted because...
* it's disney. [personal bias]
* it's musical.
* it's funny.
* i want to marry patrick dempsey.

seriously now, enchanted is a pretty good reminder that no matter how much of a good head we have, it's okay to throw in whim and a bit of magic. and at some point, a magical view of romance can survive in the real world as long as the characters involved know how to meet in the middle.

it's the kid in me talking but for all it's worth, i know remembering this movie will never fail to make me smile.

stardust

Rating:★★★★

stardust may very well be on my list of favorite movies this year only because jeri watched it with me. on that count, i give it five stars. but it still doesn't make my roster of movies i so hearts in this lifetime.

because...
claire danes is in it and can i just say i strongly dislike her? she gives yvaine a bad name and she took away the mystique of stars. not too crazy about her 'moment' [that cheesy one where she talks to the mouse-tristan about love]. it was rather disappointing. for that i give it 2 stars.

it wasn't as morbid as i'd imagine it would be. too much expectations. haha. and the set isn't as lord of the ring-ish or harry potter-ish since the production design could do a little better. great PDs make the viewers want to be in the movie. stormhold just wasn't too appealing. oh well. i give 3 stars on this.

i lavet because...
michelle pfeifer is the bomb. i loved how she portrayed her character that i actually hoped she'd kill yvaine and take her heart like she was supposed to. i absolutely wanted the villain to succeed this time. oh boo claire danes. i give it 4 stars.

robert de niro's captain shakespeare knocked me off my feet. i swear i love that man in a boa. :) *winks* five stars baby!

and okay the plot was all good, translated into the movie, not so great. but still magical so i guess that merits four stars. i'm all for fairytales and cheesy happy endings. [although i still wanted yvaine to die and not tristan... oh wait, that's the book].

on the average i give the story of my life [yes, i am a star thankyouverymuch] a 3.8 roughly a four and a whoot whoot.
