Do you remember how incredibly cheap Baguio cabs are? From town to La Trinidad is less than 100 petot and the cabbies give you exact change. I miss that about living here.

I also miss that everything in town is at a walking distance. Walking is exercise. Exercise gives you endorphines. Endorphines make you happy. Happy people don't just shoot their husbands (I've seen Legally Blonde a million times, sorry).

I miss pizza in Volante where you can get a 14" with two flavors (bagal pa rin the service but what the heck, wala nyan sa Maynila), refillable brewed coffee, and pasta in pesto.

Forest House is still homey. Loakan Road still dark. :)

I can never forget how absolutely easy it is to be stylish in a cool climate. I love my jackets, scarves, mufflers, and layers and layers of clothing. It's cold here again. And ukay ukay is still the bomb in Hiltop.

The market is being renovated and I lost my way; I couldn't find the coffee grinders. :( But the stalls are still there, in make-shift spaces selling goodies, peanut britol, etc.

I love how Baguio can still make my heart beat abnormally giddy even when most of the people I've come to know and love here are in Manila already. So maybe, it's not really the people that brings me back but the love for the city. I dunno. Or memories. Probably memories.

Before I let you go I want to say... pfft, kita kits ulet next week. :)

hello, heart's hometown! (day one point five)

this is my mom's and my retreat from the busy-ness of last week's waking and practically-living-deadness. (o, nagets mo yun?)

mom's writing my lola's life while i'm 'working' on the TY letters for everyone who condoled and drafting lola's love story. (i haven't done much... erm, haven't done anything at all.)

because it's easy to procrastinate in baguio!!! i saw fog again and i go, whooooa! waaah! and people laugh. :)

tomorrow, gee, later is another day. i hasz to do this! hu-hah!

this is random as random is gonna get.

it was just the twins (kath and alex), alice and the xaris (aka xai) off to a night of hoping for the flowers and merriment on a monday night. LOL. mogwai played the venue and bottles of san mig light and red horse the beverage.

and then there was lonely boy spotted, drinking by himself, when alice had a blast from the past. lonely boy was familiar as he was the entourage of alice's once-upon-a-horror-tale of scorned love, mapapamura ka sa alaala.

and then the cast expanded. and then connect the dots. and then who do you know that i know facebook connection talk.

and then it was almost 2am.

who says you can't have a UP Baguio reunion in a snap? x)

only because i wanted to have a december entry

How misey sitting in front of the telly, doing yet another marathon while my favorite school in the whole wide world (sorry, not arneow) is having a homecoming. That's my home. I deserve to be there.

It's not like I chose this alternative. I had every intention of gearing up for the homecoming (I even bought a dress for crying out loud) because I need to see what I had to see. *grunts* If it weren't for this timely disease I must have caught from the holiday rush, I would have been there spying, erm, mingling with the uh, other alumni.

I wanted to get there so bad I dreamed about it last night. It was actually funny, when I recall it. The setting was in the 70s or 80s and I saw my teachers and nothing changed about them except that we were all in 70s clothes. I wouldn't think we were on a different setting (since I usually dress retro anyway) except that the school looked like they did in old pictures.

Ugh, I hate the feeling as if I'm missing out on something. I hate it mostly because I want to be in Baguio and I'm not and it sucks. I wish I hadn't gotten sick. But if I didn't get sick that means I wouldn't have gone Christmas shopping with Baguio friends which means I wouldn't have seen them which means I wouldn't have had the best weekend in a long time.

This is what a trade-off must be like.

What was it like for you when you passed the UPCAT?

The message on my gigantic, jurassic Panasonic cell phone read, "ui congrats, sa up baguio ka daw." Uh no, I'm standing in a grocery, actually [Yes, I am a konkerhead, thankyouverymuch]. After about a lifetime later, it dawned on me. TEKAAA, nag-apply ako sa UP Baguio ah. This is it. This is really is it. If I had any foresight on what would have happened in the next four years, I'd have fainted from delight right then and there.

Aah. UP Baguio. Loveth thee like whoa. :D

stardust may very well be on my list of favorite movies this year only because jeri watched it with me. on that count, i give it five stars. but it still doesn't make my roster of movies i so hearts in this lifetime.

because...
claire danes is in it and can i just say i strongly dislike her? she gives yvaine a bad name and she took away the mystique of stars. not too crazy about her 'moment' [that cheesy one where she talks to the mouse-tristan about love]. it was rather disappointing. for that i give it 2 stars.

it wasn't as morbid as i'd imagine it would be. too much expectations. haha. and the set isn't as lord of the ring-ish or harry potter-ish since the production design could do a little better. great PDs make the viewers want to be in the movie. stormhold just wasn't too appealing. oh well. i give 3 stars on this.

i lavet because...
michelle pfeifer is the bomb. i loved how she portrayed her character that i actually hoped she'd kill yvaine and take her heart like she was supposed to. i absolutely wanted the villain to succeed this time. oh boo claire danes. i give it 4 stars.

robert de niro's captain shakespeare knocked me off my feet. i swear i love that man in a boa. :) *winks* five stars baby!

and okay the plot was all good, translated into the movie, not so great. but still magical so i guess that merits four stars. i'm all for fairytales and cheesy happy endings. [although i still wanted yvaine to die and not tristan... oh wait, that's the book].

on the average i give the story of my life [yes, i am a star thankyouverymuch] a 3.8 roughly a four and a whoot whoot.

when i can't be in baguio...

... baguio comes to me. :)

the ISOT invasion

so these great graduate team [some active, others retired *nyahar*] members get together after the wedding and invade the isot campus of which the legendary aboy daen is administrator.

QT together, dinner, breakfast, coffee abound... with much-missed updates and discussions on everything under the SON. :)

praise God for the reminder of THOSE times.

first time nga nila ikasal

i get all sentimental and gushy around weddings [what gay kid doesn't?]. planning and preparing for this day was all heart and soul from the couple. for the whole week, it rained in the afternoon, but no rain poured on october 13, 2007. the sky was a perfect shade of blue for a garden wedding. the Lord really is so good for allowing clear skies on this day.

as kuya carlo and ate weng were reading their vows, i was all teary eyed and really, really happy that finally, they're making it official.
