Kamusta naman ang four years later. Harhar.

Pichoors stolen from Zeela who took a long time to upload these, too.

Kawayan Camp is a month-long leadership training for Christian student leaders all over the Philippines. IVCF hosts this camp which provides holistic and wholistic training. Hurray for KC!

Masyado maraming pwedeng ikwento about KC kaya hindi ko na susubukang ungkatin ang mga nakaraan. Chos. Ayun. For memories' sake. Bow.

a dream is a wish

I dreamed about my ex-crush last night. Don't bother figuring out who it is; you have six million names to choose from. He came to visit my house and surprised me and my super friends with tickets to fly to Singapore. Haha. Everyone's headed there, I guess. Anyhoo, miracle of all miracles, I had my passport (dream sequence) ready and my picture wasn't too bad. Like any dreams should go, we were in Singapore in one blink and on the next we were on a bus to Hong Kong. Even dreams can prove how geographically-challenged I am.

When we got off the bus, we were welcomed by Mickey and Minnie and the whole HK Disneyland theme park attendants. Next thing I knew, I was holding cotton candy in my hand and wearing my Diliman Prep shirt. Suddenly, the evil girl friend of my ex crush came to the picture and laughed at my choice of clothing. I mocked her and found that nobody was laughing with me. Everyone of my super friends were embarrassed by my shirt.

Lessons:
1. Evil girlfriends of ex-crushes are evil even in dreams.
2. My subconscious is telling me to get a bus to go to "the happiest place on earth."
3. Dear girl, someday you will get your passport with a pretty picture.
4. Get a globe or a map of Asia. Learn it.
5. Sever all Diliman Prep ties; they bring awful things. Except amorsolo of course, they're the only ones who made it worthwhile.

wedding nightmares

Who said soon-to-weds are the only victims. Pfft you self-absorbed lovebirds. If I had my way only nice couples should be able to tie the knot! At least I can lay my head every night thinking that even when their kind should spawn, it would contribute to the world being a nicer place.

Tagged Much Lately?

Hellobebe, ate joyjoyjoy assigned me the letter D. For some reason, I couldn't upload more then three songs on mi music so here are the five songs I'm instructed to list down.

For le instructions...

  1. Reply to this post. I'll assign you a letter.
  2. List (and upload if you wish) 5 songs that start with your assigned letter.
  3. Post your list with these instructions.
* Diary, Bread. My college room mate and best friend Jeanxie and I have a habit of singing unplugged versions of any song we knew from her songbook. I didn't know Diary until she sang it to me and she introduced it as a funny song. Dedicated sa mga 'assuming.' She thought it was a good song to relate to. Harhar.

*Dance, Dance, Fall Out Boy. I'm FOB's secret fan. I don't think a lot of people knew except my brothers who had access to my music folder at the family PC. I don't think I like them much now. Could have been a phase, too. I think that Cinderwench had a lot to do why I liked them, I just can't remember how.

*Demons, Guster. I adored this song in high school! Too bad nobody I knew (at that time) could relate except kuya who had Guster tracks playing all the time. I especially liked its opening guitar riffs and percusions. It's the only song I can sing where I honestly sound like a rockstar. What? Didn't everyone want to be a rock star at one point? Tchh.

*Daysleeper, REM. When I considered MTV to be the coolest thing on the telly, I was tuned in every moment I could. Somehow, this song stuck to my head and I could go, 'Daysleeper.... Daysleepeeerrr!' when somebody would quiz me on (a) REM song. And that's the only part of the song I know. Harhar. I can't even remember the video just that it had a lot of blue. Harharhar.

*Damned, Shimoli. Just recently, I dedicated this song to someone dear because the lyrics say everything I want to say. It's not hard to guess who it's for. No duh.

Ohkay. If you want some tagging love, you must leave a thought over at the comment box and be tagged much. Toodles. x)

i ♥ KC!

Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) has been Kawayan Camp-ing for the last 50 years!

These are SOME of the alumni of the month-long leadership training camp IVCF holds every summer from 1958 to present. Yesternight, about 130 grads came to reminisce of KCs past. We had an informal gathering and it was fun interacting with different batches represented there. When the group sang Tunay Kang Matapat as the closing song, I got goosebumps because it sounded really good. Parang praktisado lang with matching voicing and stuff. Ang galeng!

Raise your hand if you...
1) had tuko encounters
2) had to miss showers and rely on tabo and balde
3) wait in line at the cubicles for a bath
4) had an 'aying-aying,' 'prospect' or if you had ever been asked, 'sino na-aappreciate mo?'
5) had any form of nose-bleeding because of inductive Bible studies
6) had to make a book review of John Stott's Basic Christianity
7) washed dishes for 100 or so people
8) had successfully kept your quiet time for a whole month

Hurray for God's faithfulness over all these years. :) It's really amazing!

EDIT: pichoors stolen from zeela's digicam. waiting for paul's shots to steal. bow.

Meet My New BFF

CS Lewis, 21 (1919).

Okay. So he might be old... and dead... but that doesn't mean we can't/ couldn't have operated on the same wavelength. Pfft. Of course you can have best friends from a lifetime ago.

Think of the benefits. I won't be obliged to remember his birthday (even when I do) and send him a greeting. He doesn't have email. And nobody has to make an effort to see each other. One, he lived in England and two, he lived at the beginning of the century.

I say we can be best friends because according to his autobiography we have a lot in common. Starting off with a fascination with mythology and Greek literature. How unlikely is it to find someone who enjoyed reading other culture's beliefs and being perpetually amazed with the colorful characters and entertaining plots? It's all so magical. There's our love for writing, too. Just that his is refined, mine is bloggish but whadaheck, mebe I can learn from him.

He's a scholar, so am I (what? Aren't UP peeps 'iskolars?').  And he aced English, Philosophy, Literature and History, erm, I like these subjects.

I may not have gone from being atheist to Christian but I could probably overlook that history. Because now (or then for him) we even share the same belief! And a great friend we have in Jesus!

When I was younger, I wanted to major in Apologetics. Guess what he's good at? Righty-oh.

When he was younger, he was member of a club called the Inklings with JRR Tolkien. Guess what they do? They sit together to discuss story ideas and they have a special habit, something I'm famous for. They "amused themselves by having competitions to see who could read the famously bad prose of Amanda McKittrick Ros for the longest without laughing." Nazi much. Weeee.

Funny how I use the past tense in talking about my NEW best friend. Bow.

PS.
Doesn't he look something like Shia LeBoeuf, my recent ex?

PPS.
Philo much. Right. *shares inside joke with self*

PPPS.
Like him, I would be married out of friendship and not love like that exactly.
Psycho-babbling-girl say whut?! :))

'This Kind'

Two days of going through the same Biblical passage is like the Lord emphasizing what He wants me to grasp.

Martha, Martha.
Peter, Peter.

His repetition is enough of a gavel to strike a stubborn head. When the Lord says something twice in succession, it shows a deep concern and a dear-love-don't-you-just-get-it? compassion.

Thanks, Lord. I do get it now.

There are many situations when you could do all you could; when it's never a question of whether you are doing the right thing or not. You know for a fact that your 'steps' and action plan are from the Lord and yet it gets frustrating when the answer you hope for is delayed.

There must be something lacking.

Remember the basics. Or be reminded of the basics. Just as Jesus' disciples did when they failed at casting out an unclean spirit possessing a boy, if only they had remembered or understood sooner. There are just some situations, a kind where it takes more than planning and knee-jerk responses for solutions.

Sometimes, if not all the time, the solution does not require major dynamics but a resolve to get on your knees and focus on the object of your faith. God can cause all things to happen. In His time. At His call.

This isn't too surprising

you are darkviolet
#9400D3

Your dominant hues are blue and magenta. You're the one who goes to all the parties but doesn't quite fit in at every one... you know what you want, but are afraid of what the world might think of it. You're a little different and that's okay with them, and if you're smart it's okay with you too.

Your saturation level is very high - you are all about getting things done. The world may think you work too hard but you have a lot to show for it, and it keeps you going. You shouldn't be afraid to lead people, because if you're doing it, it'll be done right.

Your outlook on life is brighter than most people's. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You're not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up.

the xaris on TV (and what went on in her head)

This is a story of how the xaris ended up on a morning show. (And everything enclosed in a parenthesis is the REAL version.)

One day, an Umagang Kay Ganda SP phoned in for an exdeal (too bad the boss got it first as I would've said no). The next thing she knew, the xaris was working on details of the buffet (I had to produce a luau/grill theme in June in less than a day and I had to report to work at 3:30am). The boss said something like, 'ikaw na lang pumunta dun ah.' (At 3:30am call time? Seriously?) Being the good girl that she is, the xaris obliged. (At 3:30am call time? Seriously?)

The following day (at that ungodly hour) the xaris went to the set of UKG and saw to it that the production requirements were implemented (no, I sleep-walked through the whole preparation). The prod staff were always reminding us to get ready (for like, every other quarter hour). Soon (two decades later), we were advised that we're on the next segment.

The xaris somehow felt at home with cameras, production crews and PA's running all over (this would have been my life but gosh I don't think I'd live that long in it). The night before, they asked the xaris what name to flash at the screen and the numbers the viewers could call. The xaris from them on was known as Xaris Hope and no last name was given (because tamayo is another caterer and if i attach that, it would all be confusing. note to self: change that last name to cook).

Just when the xaris thought she couldn't wait long enough (my eyelids were dropping involuntarily!), Rica Peralejo (aaaaaaaah! ahlavyou ricaaaa!) got outside and briefed the xaris for their interview (my eyelids were very much cooperative now). She is such a lovely person and she verified that xaris was pronounced /karis/ (thank you, i wouldn't want to have been mis-named on TV, haha) and she went on to ask party questions.

The cameras started rolling (lights, camera, actiowwn!) and the next thing the xaris knew Rica was already talking to her (what, i was waiting for the make up people, tchh) with the camera crew in tow.

Rica: Umagang Kay Ganda, Xaris!
the xaris: Good morning (aah, on my best dj voice, too)!

blah blah blah

The interview went on and when Rica started moving on to the next segment, the xaris realized the last thing she said (i said 'more mura if you get it in bulk.' how conyo. more mura? sheesh). Finally, the xaris was ready to doze off (but that did not happen, i was on the look out for Donita).

And that was the xaris' five minutes on national tv (who of my friends were up at that hour? so much for tv appearances. but but but it was soooo much funnnn!).

NOTES:
*I did see Donita but she was running. How awkward would it have been if I blocked her way for a photo op, right?
*Of course you can't see the segment on youtube, what are you thinking?
*Of course i didn't record the segment, duh.
*I did get text messages from friends and loved ones that they saw me saying more mura. Yey. :)
*And yes, I had my pichoor taken with rica. :)

*We talked briefly about the Hillsong concert (we saw her there) and being Christians. hurray. :)
*And yes, thursday group, i did ask her to visit, hahahaha. :D

Sanguine-Choleric

This day can't get any worse. *dramatic sigh* I used to be sanguine-melancholic or just sanguine but *sigh* oh well.

I liked being melancholic. I really did. Even when it was a third of my sanguine score, I knew Sanguine-Melancholic did wonders for me. Things really change over a year, eh.

Sanguine-21 (S-11, W-10)
Choleric-11 (S-4, W-7)
Melancholy-6 (S-4, S-2)
Phlegmatic-2 (S-1, W-1)

Guess I have to embrace it,then. I put the cool in COOLeric.

My Redeemer Lives

Boy, do I have a lot to tell. Before I finally forget half the things I've been meaning to say, lemme put in bullet form and a 'few' highlights [grah, this is all I can handle for now, boo me].

  • Hillsong United is the bomb!
I did not intend to see them live because I once told Ate Normi, 'I'm not a fan.' I probably was possessed when I said that but I think I said those words because of the hype the group was getting amongst Christian crowds. Nawawala sa limelight ang Panginoon and that troubles me. When May 26 came, I even decided I didn't want to go. Sapak mode again. But the Lord is good. Even when I had to walk in the rain [I just recovered from the flu] and kept meeting unfortunate circumstances, I found myself in a seat at the lower box of AC with my church mates, anticipating this year's most rockin' worship concert.

I did not know any of the names of Hillsong United. But I was blessed. It was clear that the band is all for God and not for fame. I wondered how many kids at the Araneta Coliseum was looking at the Creator of Music rather than the music makers. And with humility knocked into me, I knew for a fact that we were all there to worship the Lord. This is what eternity is going to look like. I can't wait.

When the frontperson [see, I never bothered with names] was reading from the Bible, tears voluntarily flowed from my eyes because somehow, those were the exact same things the Lord was dealing me with. And when the songs started, mehn, I felt the Holy Spirit moving. Only He can cause a crowd of rowdy, young Christians into people of God burning with so much passion and worship. YOU DESERVE THE HIGHEST PRAISE, LORD!

  • We're ON THE LOT
My church has been rallying the high heavens for the last seven years that we may acquire a new lot and building. The lot has been an issue of well, worldly politics and gripping the powers that be. But our God is an AWESOME GOD whose name is higher above all names. Seven years. The timing can't be any more perfect than this. How Mighty is the God who can orchestrate miracles as such.

Ang dami dami dami daming lessons, heartaches and pains ang pinagdaanan namin bago ito. But to look at this lot [parang bus terminal lang ah, ay, bus terminal nga!] and know it was delivered to us by the Hand of God is enough consolation. This is Abraham's, Moses', King David's, Paul's God who gave this to us. The same God who delivered Israel from Pharaoh, the same Hands that carefully plotted the stars and galaxies, the same Voice who spoke the world into being is the same God who holds Sampaloc Bible Church.

Take that, worldly powers, our God reigns. Shout Unto God - Hillsong London

  • Grace Anatomy
The amazing thing about grace is that it is given to us even when we don't deserve it. Heck, we never really deserve it. And yet we enjoy it.

dedlayn

We made a movie in one of my broadcast subject [yez, i took broadcasting] in 2005. My best friends [who happened to be my classmates] and I teamed up to make this short film. It was our first attempt to create something in honor of the one thing we loved together-movies. Needless to say, the events that transpired between concept-making to film-showing has made everyone appreciate the things movie makers do.

Right. Dedlayn ang title ng pelikula namin at sa umpisa, masarap magimbento ng kwento. When I've released something- creative juices, words or thoughts, I rarely go back to it. Tipong pag nasabi ko na, kakalimutan ko na.

I watched dedlayn minutes ago and I laughed my head off even when it was supposed to be drama. Every detail of that project was recalled in my oxygen-deprived brain and I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic. Sure, I knew the faults of the production and the outcome, but I must say I'm proud of the project.

Riiight.

Charos. Ang saya gumawa ng pelikula pero habang may saya, may aral rin na mapupulot. Hindi ko balak punahin ang movie namin kaya hindi yun ang lessons na ishi-share ko.

From making the short film dedlayn, I learned that...
1. ayoko pala talagang magsimula sa pagpi-PA.
2. I work best in executive functions [pang-events at hindi pang-field ang beauty ko].
3. true friends are those who stick by you even when you've become incredible hulk and beech them around.
4. i have anger issues.
5. hindi madali magtranslate ng concepts into film. sobrang proseso at nakakakurta ng utak.
6. minsan, hindi lahat ng nasa utak mo ay ma-a-achieve into film.
7. video cameras, shooting techniques and the weather can only take you so far. Heart is more important.
8. bawal magka-crush sa mga katrabaho mo dahil nagiging ogre beech ka lang at mawawalan kayo ng future together.
9. may mga taong mukha lang ang puhunan.
10. all you really need to succeed in endeavors is a God bigger than all your troubles who gives you awesomely wonderful friends who add meaning to life.
11. having a camera recording your movements is well, unsettling. but fun.

Eh, yan na lang muna. Matagal ko nang pinakawalan ang pangarap na ma-redeem ang film-making inclinations ko, or what's left of it. Chos. :)

I hate Starbucks-Power Plant

I wrote a long hate letter to the lousy, discriminative peephole in Power Plant Starbucks but the wireless signal went off and I wasn't able to save it in the drafts, at least. I'm too miffed to write it again so I'll start and end by saying I'll run over whoever's on duty there between 2:30 to 3:30 PM especially Counter Girl and Order Girl. Muhahahahaha!

my mac is brilliant...

and i will blog about it just as soon as i wipe all the laway away.

Friday, May 02, 2008

Because I have a lot of time in mah hands

1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

1. The rules of hair care are simple and finite. Any Cosmo girl would have known. ~LEGALLY BLONDE

2. What do stars do? They shine. ~STARDUST

3. Verbal ability is a highly overrated thing in a guy, and it's our pathetic need for it that gets us into so much trouble.

4. Isn't this religious, ah yes. The eternal battle between good and evil, saint and sinners... but you are still not having fun.

5. Do you remember in kindergarten, how you'd meet a kid, and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you'd be playing like you were best friends, because you didn't have to be anyone but yourself?

6. When I find the right girl, I'll know. It'll just hit me. BAM! Like lightning.

7. Don't talk like that. You'll be all right. We're together now. Everything's going to be fine, you'll see.

8. It's not a date. We're just agreeing to eat at the same table.

9. Yes, they are, they're perfect. Don't matter if they're skinny, fat, blond or blue. If a woman is willing to give you her love, Harvard, it's the greatest gift in the world. Makes you taller, makes you smarter, makes your teeth shine. Boy, oh, boy, women are perfect.

10. I've been waiting my whole life, I just don't know what the hell for.

11. Really? There's a stalker book? Great, I gotta read that one.

12. Summer romances begin for all kinds of reasons, but when all is said and done, they have one thing in common. They're shooting stars, a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, fleeting glimpse of eternity, and in a flash they're gone.

13. I've already wasted my whole life. I want to tell you with my last breath that I have always loved you. I would rather be a ghost, drifting by your side as a condemned soul, than enter heaven without you. Because of your love, I will never be a lonely spirit.

14. Yes. I was saving to become a doctor or lawyer... but this was a chance for world peace.

15. Can I have one last first kiss? ~50 FIRST DATES

Stolen much from Iya. I promise this is a game and not blind items I want to tell people. hahaha.

To add a few because my migraine is subsiding, i can think clearly now...
16. Kung ito na araw ng ating paghihiwalay, ito na marahil ang simula ng unti unti kong pagkamatay.

17. ano ang gagawin mo sa isang bagay na nawala na hindi mo mahanap, makalimutan o mapalitan? *secret* tinatanggap. *chos*

The Heat is Ohnnnn!

It's a freakishly hawt summer evening that it feels like my brain is melting just when I have so much kwento. In the meantime, I'd do this tag thing to keep my braincells active [whoo hoo] and wait for more coffee invitations. Yahahaha.

Romina for the tag!
1.Each blogger starts with ten random facts/habits about themselves.
2.Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their ten things and post these rules.
3.At the end of your blog, you need to choose ten people to get tagged and list their names.
*ditching rule number four*

Been there, done that.

But here goes...
1. I like High School Musical and if I were to play in Beat the Geeks, I'd definitely nail any HSM geek down.
2. Lip synching is one of my best hidden talents.
3. Batman is my dream guy. Piolo means I'm settling.
4. I would probably die of road rage. Hopefully, by the time I prove myself worthy of a Philippine driver's license, the rage will have died. Hopefully.
5. I have no intentions of living past 25 years of age. Help me.
6. I talk to myself an awful lot.
7. I write my crushes love notes but never send them. As of this writing, I have a whole shoe box of unsent love letters.
8. Waking up and getting up are two different processes for me. The interval between the two usually takes a half hour to an hour and a half.
9. I like keeping perfume bottles with liquid enough for two spritzes before I get another one. That way, I can smell the 'scent' of my favorite memories.
10. Every year, I have a diary entry that reads the same line. I don't do it on purpose, it just happens.

Tagging anyone bored enough to go for the tag. :D

Good Morning Sunshine!

I wake up seeing this and I know the day will be fine. Now I wish I had a cool camera to capture moments with exact color precision. I wish. I wish.

Breaking the Habit

You know what they say about habits being formed in twenty-one days? Well, it's been that long since I decided I wanted to stop living. I didn't die exactly but I managed to be unalive and it’s not a happy feeling. In fact, for the past weeks, I’m devoid of feeling.

It is really deadly to neglect any spiritual feeding. I never run out of reasons why I miss church or miss Bible studies and prayer times. I have a longer list I could use but the thing is, I'm done making excuses.

Yesterday, I decided to break the habit. It’s too unbecoming to be the prophet of gloom and doom. All along, I’ve been nothing but a pretentious little twit who feigned living while really dying inside.

I'm okay now.

:::::: (",) :::::::

I was looking for my first edition of the High School Musical magazine when I came across old photographs and blue books both from high school and college days.

I stumbled upon class cards [mine was colored and covered in glitters!] and blue book exams and papers [haha academic writing kuno] and pictures from productions and stuff.

Meet my thesis partner!

Taken back in the day when we were smarter and we talked about theology and politics and culinary arts and language like we were made of intelligent material. I guess I do miss Jiar even when I say I don't.

2. The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
3. The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post it in your own.

Why I Love my Job

There are more days that I wish to quit my current job but that does not mean I don't like what I do. It's just that I think that what I'm doing isn't really my best and that I can do more if I were in a different atmosphere. Then again, I don't really trust my thoughts lately.

On other days I don't want to quit, I love everything about being the tagapanatili ng kagandahan in Josiah's Catering. Why is that, you ask and is that really my job title, you wonder. Duh.

Here are some of the reasons why I love my job:
1. I can be myself whenever I feel like it.
2. At times that I don't have to be myself, I turn out to be okay.
3. I can make up my job titles and get away with it.
4. I get to meet celebrities whether they like it or yes.
5. I get to hang out in the metro's coolest malls [even if I usually end up going there in my uniform, eep].
6. My boss treats me to the coolest restaurants when she/they feel like it.
7. If I have to go far and wide [and ooh is that a desert I see?], our company driver is the best policy.
8. I get to ride in delivery trucks [super exciting!].
9. The company sends me to all these trainings. I owe them my AIM diploma [and the internal hemorrhage that came with it].
10. I call my own time, baby!
11. When I'm sent to man the showroom, I see [and smell] the likes of Dennis Trillo and Bobby Andrews *swoon*
12. I earn extra when I man or host a function.
13. I get to help plan weddings not my own with other people's money to burn.
14. Seeing happy couples reignite my marrying dreams.
15. Seeing happy couples make me more cynical [and I happen to like that, too.]

I can go on but I have to leave soon. Dennis awaits. Lalalala.

Why I Love Keeping Journals

Funny what you write under the influence of adolescence. It's a lot like drugs, I tell you. Haha.

In memory of my first heartbreak [January 29, 1999], I unearthed my high school journals which, much to my dismay, are missing several seasons. Out of three, I only recovered one diary. Now, I'm thinking whether my sister held them captive for future blackmail or that I simply lost them in the black hole somewhere in the bodega [aka my old room].

Whatever the fate of my journals be, I am confident that if and when they get recovered and read, that lucky person has a lot to laugh about. I just wish I'd get my hands on them before incriminating data gets around.

So I have a habit of writing about my crushes and writing to them as a journalistic exercise [yeah, right] for editing in the future. The future is now and what a laugh I've had. What the heck was I thinking?

I am glad to know that I have matured in so many ways-- writing skills, thought processes, and making sense of the why's of the world. Oh barf, I did not just say that. Haha. So to my younger selves whose words were immortalized in these pages, cheers! You had been a great source of rediscovery.

Sanguine Xarissa

Out of impulse and a recurring vision that I'm starting to be 'gusot' [beats me where my grandmother got the term], I went to visit the salon after office. The last time I got a hair cut was in 2006 when I had my locks chopped to be donated to the Guimaras oil-spill. There are no oil spills to speak of today, but hey, sometimes style is enough reason for a make-over.

Before the stylist snipped off my hair, she took care of a butch-looking [i'm sorry for being politically incorrect, i don't have any terms] person who, after the session, looked much like a man. When it was my turn, the hairdresser expertly cut and 'texturized' my wavy hair into a short do which resembles an emo balara boy's. I had no qualms because that's exactly how I wanted it. As soon as she was done styling my hair, she said, "Ayan, mukha ka ng lalaki." I giggled and said, "Hindi naman po 'yon ang gusto kong ma-achieve, pero salamat." I lfet her a hefty tip. I like my hair now, even if I looked like a boy in it.

Emo. Haha.

Later, I found myself reserving [and getting] a pink pair of oakley shades. I bullied my father to getting it for me but then I decided to pay for it myself [eep, i know] and whoa, oakley glasses [this one's orig] don't come cheap. I don't hafta disclose the price as I might decide to resell it later when I'm broke but these pink shades definitely give new meaning to 'looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.' I likey.

It's pink and legally ditzy.

Wah. I'm back at the BROKEback mountains again. :'(

What was it like for you when you passed the UPCAT?

The message on my gigantic, jurassic Panasonic cell phone read, "ui congrats, sa up baguio ka daw." Uh no, I'm standing in a grocery, actually [Yes, I am a konkerhead, thankyouverymuch]. After about a lifetime later, it dawned on me. TEKAAA, nag-apply ako sa UP Baguio ah. This is it. This is really is it. If I had any foresight on what would have happened in the next four years, I'd have fainted from delight right then and there.

Aah. UP Baguio. Loveth thee like whoa. :D

[mebe i'll finish this. mebe i won't.]

Year Highlights

In a nutshell...
everything i love this year. oh yes!
2007was so sweet.

*photo credits to davidus.multiply.com for girlfriends and matching bibles and camwhoring.

How to Spend the First Day of the Year

Begin the new year countdown with a family dinner and talk about anything while exchanging jokes. Shift topic to serious business and refrain from cracking silly lines lest the dinner scene look like something straight out of a sitcom. When the clock strikes eleven, start piling up Bulacan merchandise and check out which ones light the sky best. Make an inventory of the nicest fireworks display to get for next year. Stare in awe at the pyro light show while covering your mouth and nose unless you want black snot. Start the countdown and toast to a good year.

Proceed with the poker game that your baby brother is winning and bore yourself to tears with checks, folds and raises because you are too pathetic to learn the game by heart. Decide that it's time to take your newly acquired High School Musical 2 DVD [the one you elbowed your kuya to get] to the test and burn the midnight oil watching clips with Zac Efron on it. Smile like a grade schooler when you see how much footages the DVD has of him. Swoon and wipe the laway away.

Put on a Friends marathon after seeing all possible antics Zac could have made and convince yourself that it is time to grow up. Down the half-filled beer glass you put off while watching HSM2 and start enjoying the marathon. Love Joey, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe more.

Realize it's almost five in the morning and have your cousins drive you home. Sleep in heavenly peace. Thank God from whom all blessings flow.

Wake up at ten am to a sleeping household and cringe at the state your room is in. Find your way to the door and wonder where your floor went. Take up the courage to get a broom and finally sort out bags and shoes, clothes, kikay stuff, scarves and all kinds of trash into a neat pile. When you can finally determine the patterns of your floor tile, add finishing touches and put the things neatly away.

Plan a rendezvous with your college dorm mate and call the mall to see if they're open. Bring your coffee-stained HP7 and present it to her as a gift. Wait a while before she gets to the meeting place and check out the toy store in the meantime. Get yourself that planner you've been meaning to have and take a long time agonizing between the purple fluff, the purple denim or the black sparkly leather. Choose the purple fluff and admire your new planner.

Grab coffee at the Green Lady and talk for hours when your much-missed dorm mate comes. Walk, talk and have a bookstore visit. Stay at the store for a long time and read through titles. Buy a cosmo publication because that's all the material you can handle at this point. Wonder why you always end up buying a short novel from summit after hanging out in a bookstore.

Head home and pester her to take you to Baguio with her. Pretend-mope and watch her roll her eyes.

Get online as soon as you land home and have your cyber buddies fill you in on yet another grammar nazi mission. Succeed at the nazi-ing. Contain strong disdain toward neighbors who decide this is the best time to make firecracker noises and set off car alarms. Scream through the window and tell them to get a life when you can't control your temper. Have people at the house pacify you and tell you that you had better stop calling your neighbors stupid. It is the new year after all.

Have a great 2008 one and all! Here's hoping that you started off the year nicely. Toodles
